A look back at the products we made for carriers in 2020

Uber Freight’s mission—to help communities thrive by simplifying the movement of goods—felt more important than ever this year. Equally important is our commitment to carriers, who are and have always been an integral part of this mission.

In keeping with this commitment, we released several new products and updates last year to improve the carrier experience. By simplifying every step of the process from booking through post-trip, these new releases make it easier than ever to work with Uber Freight.

Before you book

Dedicated lanes: With dedicated lanes, carriers can lock in a fixed price on a weekly load commitment, which can help generate a consistent source of revenue. Carriers simply submit a bid for the lane of their choice in the web portal and receive tenders in their inboxes when these loads are available.

Saved lanes: This feature allows carriers to save their preferred lanes and receive emails about available loads that match their preferred location and trailer type. This feature is a game changer for carriers who prefer consistent lanes day in and day out.

In-app bidding: Now carriers can bid on loads directly in the Uber Freight app and receive a notification within minutes about whether or not their bid was accepted. While not all loads are open to bidding at this time, we do plan for availability to increase.

Improved search filters: In-app search improvements ensure that the best load options appear every time a carrier signs in.

Upgraded load notes: View clear and concise load requirements to book with confidence. Now you can know what you need to know to properly service the load right away, without first having to review paragraphs of load details.

API integration: Large fleets can now integrate their TMS systems with our software for a seamless searching and booking experience. Please reach out to us if you’re interested in learning more.

On the road

Web portal status updates: Dispatchers can now easily update load statuses and in and out times on the web portal without needing to call Support or answer tracking calls. Help improve your carrier tracking automation rate on your scorecard with the click of a button.

Automated load-status tracking: Improve your carrier score and decrease check calls with automated status updates sent straight from your ELD. We currently support project44, KeepTruckin, Samsara, and Transflo, with more integrations coming in 2021.

Load-update email notifications: With notifications sent directly to email, carriers can now stay up to date on any last-minute changes during a trip. Whether we need to communicate about a schedule change or load-requirement update, these notifications allow us to stay in close contact with our carrier network.

In-app detention requests: Our new process allows carriers to request detention directly in the app and save time that would otherwise be spent on the phone.

Performance summary: Carriers currently receive a monthly email summarizing their performance and standing. In 2021, this important information will also be available in the mobile app.
