Uber Freight enhances less-than-truckload (LTL) capabilities

In recent years, less-than-truckload (LTL) freight has emerged as a primary shipping solution across supply chains. Small and midsize businesses are pivoting to LTL services to more easily move their goods amid market volatility. Uber Freight introduced LTL freight capabilities in 2021 to continue supporting shippers with full truckload and LTL needs, and provide a direct connection to our reliable marketplace of carriers.

Today, we are strengthening our solutions by introducing enhancements to our LTL capabilities—furthering our goal of being a flexible, efficient one-stop-shop shipping solution for shippers across first-to-last mile logistics.

Automated LTL item catalog experience

When booking LTL loads, shippers traditionally input information about loads and items (such as number of units, commodity description, and weight per pallet) manually, which is resource-intensive and inefficient.

Our new item catalog capability automates this process and enables shippers to input loads through an autocomplete function. Shippers can quickly and easily enter key elements of their load, and all remaining details or information will auto populate into the load description, saving time during the commodity registration process.

Ohi, an instant delivery platform that works with e-commerce brands to enable same-day deliveries, is seeing promising results from Uber Freight’s LTL enhancements.

“Uber Freight enables Ohi to better position inventory throughout our network of micro-fulfillment centers, enabling direct-to-consumer instant delivery for some of the best consumer brands in the country,” said Kyle Klein, transportation manager at Ohi. “Uber Freight’s services have reduced my personal bandwidth needs and enabled us to scale at a more efficient pace than previously capable. Uber Freight is a strong partner of ours and has made the typically turbulent world of LTL and FTL freight to be less troublesome than is commonly experienced.”

LTL is a simple and flexible way to move goods quickly

These enhancements, matched with Uber Freight’s network reach – over 130K digitally-enabled carriers, over 9K shippers and $17B freight under management – provide shippers with new ways to keep supply chains streamlined and flexible.

Uber Freight’s LTL solution offers shippers a simple and flexible way to move loads, reduce freight costs, and create, view, and pay for shipments all from one single platform. Shippers can also receive instant quotes from our network of carriers with competitive and transparent pricing. Since the beginning of 2022, our overall LTL volume has grown tenfold and our total number of shippers has grown ninefold during the same timeframe.
